How to draw and represent the unconceivable, the horrible, the unrepresentable? Tabloids are filled with horrible stories, of human drama. They defy our understanding of life, while having a strange appeal on us. But, because they are foreign to us, these stories are not grasped, only evoked in their most literal and revolting aspect. Whereas when such a drama happens among our family, friends or relatives, there is no escape to the cruelty of these acts. It is only through sublimation that such events can be grasped, digested and turned into socially acceptable "stories". And the sublime makes us access another level of representation, more universal, cleaned from the contingency of cruel details.
I will not tell you the story that is at stake here, because, what I hope to share with you through this drawing is beyond or before the unacceptable.
